Booher Earns the Win in Goodson Pro Top Outlaw Season Opener
Next Up 2nd Annual Bluegrass Nationals, London, KY – May 9th & 10th
The Spitzer Enterprises Top Gun Series, the quicker of the two divisions in the Goodson Pro Top Outlaw Series, kicked off their 2008 season in Timberlake, NC at Roxboro Dragway. The competitors put on a great show for the fans including sub 4 second passes at over 180 MPH down the 1/8 mile.
Eventual race winner, Brandon Booher qualified number one for the event with a 3.94 second pass edging out Tom Mueller who put up a very impressive 3.96 during the Saturday night qualifying session. On Sunday, Booher earned the semi-final win and lane choice in the finals when he took out Dave Harris with a 3.90 second pass at 184 MPH. While in the other semi-final match-up Mueller ran 4.02 at 181 MPH to earn the win over Ty Parker. In the finals, Booher put up the quickest time of the event, 3.882, to take the win light over Mueller who ran 4.015.
“It was a good start to the season. We have a lot of new things going on this year and we couldn’t do it without the help of so many great people. There are so many people to thank, two of which are Mike Spitzer of Spitzer Enterprises and PTO member and fellow drag racer Bruce Westfall of American Colorscans who are the title sponsors to our Top Gun and Super Eliminator classes. We are expecting some really good fields in both classes coming up in London in a couple weeks,” said Phil Esz, President of PTO.

The next event for the series will be the 2nd Annual Bluegrass Nationals in London, KY on May 9th and 10th. The Spitzer Top Guns will be trying to add to their series championship points totals and the American Colorscans Super Eliminators will make their first appearance of the season as they vie for $15,000 in cash and contingency. Joining the Top Guns and Super Eliminators will be a Jet Funny Car, which will run following the Friday night of “Fire” qualifying and on Saturday under the lights.

race news: Pro Top Outlaw Series Offers Exciting New Benefits in 2008 |

During the off season the Pro Top Outlaw organization has been working hard to ensure that 2008 will be their best season yet. Two time series champion, Phil Esz, announced at the end of the 2007 season that he would be stepping out of the driver’s seat and taking over the responsibilities of running the organization. The series, based out of Cincinnati, offers something for everyone with an array of dragsters, funny cars, altereds and pro mods all running heads up against one another during competition.
Over the winter, the organization is excited to announce they have teamed up with Goodson which will be the series title sponsor. Dave Monyhan, national sales manger at Goodson, is coming on board as well to be the official announcer. And the infamous, Nitro Joe Jackson will be on hand at each event serving as the Goodson PTO event coordinator. In addition, the Pro Top Outlaws will have a sponsor support trailer at each event provided by W&M Enterprises, Inc. The trailer will be equipped with official Pro Top Outlaw hero cards, designed by McSnyder Designs, that you can have signed by your favorite driver, souvenir t-shirts, literature on the series and various sponsors, as well as other items at each event.
The heads-up series which boasts two 8-car fields will continue with this format for 2008. Similar to last year, the Spitzer Top Guns will showcase the quickest 8 cars after qualifying. The American Colorscans Super Eliminator class will be comprised of the 4 fastest Pro Mods and qualifiers 9 thru 12 of the open wheeled cars, with one of each meeting in the final round. This should make for some really exciting competitive racing and put on a spectacular show for the fans.
Each series will square off for the first time March 22nd thru 23rd in Timberlake, NC at Roxboro Dragway.
The Pro Top Outlaws will race in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, and North Carolina while keeping within a 300 mile radius of the home base in Cincinnati, Ohio.
